Crick how'll

We left Geoff's just before 9:00am and set forth for Crickhowell. The nearest "big" place was Abergavenny but we chose a small pub/inn for our first night.

We/I decided to take the slow roads through Wales and headed for Llangollen via the Horseshoe Pass. It was slow going on the narrow windy roads - the bikers and cyclists were out in force, there was hundreds of motorbikes parked at the cafe bar at the top of horseshoe pass.

While we were in Manchester Debbie booked a "cottage" in mid-Wales for our last week and Stuart and Lisa's first week in the UK and as we were passing close by we thought we would have a look at the place. It wasn't easy to spot st first but we got it on our second pass, the house is an old vicarage and it looks quite grand.

We arrived in Crickhowell just after midday and parked our bags and had a pint and a wine.they were cooking Subday lunches and the portions looked large. We enquired about an evening meal and were told that they didn't cook on a Sunday evenings they were flat chat all day doing Sunday lunches. So we went for a reccy and found the Bridge End Inn down by the river - they were open for Sundsy dinner and so as we were there we tried out their beer and wines. There was a lot of people in the beer garden overlooking the river - some brave souls even went in for a dip.

It's a pretty spot.

We walked back to our digs using the local footpath - there are some old graveyards in what would seem to be somebody's garden.

We also passed some horses with foals on our way back.

The evening meal at the pub was filling and much to our annoyance we missed the seafood specials on the blackboard menu that was hidden in the corner - we need to be more vigilant!!
